The Royal Tour
In northern Arizona's Glen Canyon National Recreation Area sits Horseshoe Bend, a unique spot where the Colorado River doubles back in a horseshoe shape.
Horseshoe Bend sits in a canyon carved by the Colorado that is fed from the dam at Glen Canyon, which forms Lake Powell, and the area offers so much more than just the one iconic view.
This is Glen Canyon Dam, visible from within the city of Page. Tours are also possible from the visitors center.
The entire area is made of beautiful red rock formations. This is the Hanging Gardens, which can be reached via a fairly easy hike.
To touch the Colorado River, head to Lee's Ferry. This is also the jumping off point for Grand Canyon rafting trips.
