Augsburg, Germany

The Royal Tour

Augsburg is a mid-sized city in Germany's Bavaria. Named for Augustus, it has some Roman ruins, though the main attractions are newer.

These are some of the Roman ruins of Augsburg, just outside the cathedral.

Augsburg's cathedral dates to the eleventh century, with the highlight being huge frescos.

Augsburg's Fuggerei is said to be the world's first social housing project, dating to 1516.

The Fuggerei is still active today, accepting Augsburg residents who financially qualify and are in good standing with the Catholic Church.

The most impressive sight in Augsburg is the Golden Hall of the city's town hall.
