The Royal Tour
Dresden is one of the largest cities in eastern Germany. Sitting along the banks of the Elbe, it is best known for its destroyed and rebuilt old city that once served as the capital of an independent Saxony.
Dresden Castle, on the right (the cathedral is on the left), is home to several museums, most notably the Green Vault, which houses the Saxon treasures.
The Dresden Green Diamond is the highlight, and is the largest such gem in the world.
Frauenkirche is one of the most recognizable churches in Germany, here seen behind the fall harvest market.
For a cool look at Saxon history, check out the Procession of Princes, a HUGE mosaic depicting every Saxon Elector and King.
The Golden Rider is just across the Elbe from the old city, and is a reminder to click the link below to read all about Dresden!
