Griffith Observatory

The Royal Tour

Griffith Observatory is one of the highlights of Los Angeles’ Griffith Park. The Art Deco and classical building was constructed in 1935, and has been open to the public ever since.

Griffith Observatory’s main telescope is also open to the public for evening and special event viewings.

A highlight of any visit is the rampart walk, with one of the best views of Los Angeles.

Griffith Observatory is also one of the best places from which to see the famous Hollywood Sign.

Inside, the central atrium has a wonderful mural on the ceiling, and a pendulum tells the time based on Earth’s rotation and movement.
