The Royal Tour
Munich's historic center is the area inside of its old town walls. This area dates to 1327, when a fire destroyed the city and it was rebuilt.
The highlight is the Marienplatz with its imposing gothic city hall dating to the 19th century.
Frauenkirche is impressive with its twin towers, which must be the tallest structures in the central city. The inside is rather plain, though.
A few of Munich's old city gates are still in existence. The Isartor is my favorite.
Munich is known for its Catholic churches, and the Asamkirche, in the historic center, is one of the shiniest you'll find anywhere.
