Paella in Valencia, Spain

The Royal Tour

Paella is one of the most iconic Spanish dishes, and Valencia is the city most associated with it. Made of rice, saffron, vegetables, and often proteins, there are several variations to try.

This is a paella pan used by one of the instructors at My First Paella, one of several paella making classes in Valencia, Spain. It is huge!

These purple and green beans are found in every Valencian paella, and the local markets are stocked with them.

The finished paella looks something like this. Proteins can include seafood, rabbit, sausage, or snails.

For a different take on paella, try arroz negro, which gets its color from squid ink. It is salty, briny, and amazing.
