Santa Monica Pier is a piece of California nostalgia, a combination of amusement park and old-time fun sticking out into the Pacific.
You’ll access the pier from Santa Monica proper by passing under the iconic sign. Cars are no longer allowed to drive on the pier.
Santa Monica Pier is actually two piers in one. Pleasure Pier, the amusement park side, was once separate.
One of my favorite spots is the original carousel. Next door is Soda Jerks, where one can still get a chocolate egg cream!
And when basically in the ocean, fish tacos are a necessity! Santa Monica Pier has several options for these delights.
